A sturdy plastic box with a metal insert is used to make a high pitched clicking sound.

The clicker allows us to be very precise about which behavior is being rewarded,
it also allows us to reward the horse during the behavior.

Clicker Training was first developed for teaching dolphins tricks, as this gentle method for motivating animals was the only effective method of training an animal that can just swim away.

Clicker Training is now also used in zoo's to allow simple veterinary proceedures to be performed on animals without the need to anaethetise them.

Hi Georgia,

I am so pleased with the clicker training. I have a pony who came to me with a lot of hang-ups very nervous and challenging, even the local horse whisperer gave up on him.

We are practising every day and we are establishing the basics, Casper was a very difficult pony to catch until we started clicker training but now he is enjoying his clicker work,I can catch him daily, with a click and treat, but I am keeping his training to 10mins twice a day.

He looks away to receive his click treat, he can target his ball now to receive his click treat, he is offering each foreleg when I touch his legs and say shake

plus click treat.

I am a classical riding instructor and I will keep you posted of our progress. Thank you for the book I have read it over and over, you have with your book and clicker given a pony a chance to easier and less stressful life. I have been very surprised at how quickly he has picked up the training.
